  • Dry eye is a condition in which a person doesn't have enough quality tears to lubricate and nourish the eye.
  • Tears are necessary for maintaining the health of the front surface of the eye and for providing clear vision.
  • When our Eye blink it spread the tear which provides lubrication. As a result, it reduces risk of infection and remove the debris & keep surface smooth and clear.
  • Here are some terms related to dry eye:

  • The four core inter-related mechanisms thought to be responsible for the manifestations of dry eye.
  • These are:
      • Tear instability
      • Tear hyper-osmolarity,
      • Inflammation and
      • Ocular surface damage.
  • Inflammation in the conjunctiva and accessory glands as well as the ocular surface is present in 80% of patients with KCS and may be both a cause and consequence of dry eye.
